INFINITI POWERS UP THE FX SEBASTIAN VETTEL VERSION

Infiniti today confirmed the FX Sebastian Vettel version, shown first in concept form at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, is to enter a strictly limited production run of 200 units to be sold across Europe and Middle East regions. The announcement was made by Bernard Loire, Infiniti Vice President for Europe and the Middle East.

The production version will match the 420PS output of the concept car making it the most powerful Infiniti yet to be sold by the European business unit. Although no price is available yet, it will also be the most expensive.

The car is a collaboration between Red Bull Racing’s champion racing driver and global brand ambassador, Sebastian Vettel, and Infiniti’s Chief Creative Officer, Shiro Nakamura. With its sophisticated technology, lightweight components and features such as Rear Active Steering for maximum agility, the V8 FX50S Premium – Infiniti’s current flagship as well as its best-selling model in some markets – provides the ideal starting point for the FX Sebastian Vettel version. Changes including increased power, lower weight, longer gearing, increased downforce and lowered, stiffer suspension turn what is already a sports car among crossovers into a crossover supercar.

Customer reservations are being taken now ahead of first deliveries from early 2013.

2013 Infiniti JX Luxury Crossover Production Begins

– Job One Event Held for First Luxury Vehicle to be Manufactured in Tennessee –
The first luxury vehicle produced in the state of Tennessee, an Infiniti JX luxury crossover in Emerald Green, rolled off the production line during a special ceremony today at Nissan’s Smyrna Vehicle Assembly Plant. The all-new, 7-passenger 2013 Infiniti JX, the latest addition to the Infiniti Inspired Performance lineup, goes on sale at Infiniti retailers nationwide in March.

Attending the celebration alongside Smyrna technicians who will build the new JX were Nissan Americas Vice Chairman Bill Krueger, Vice President Manufacturing Smyrna – Decherd Susan Brennan, Infiniti Americas Vice President Ben Poore and U.S. Representative Scott DesJarlais of the 4th Congressional District of Tennessee.

“We are extremely proud and honored to be building this world-class vehicle right here in Middle Tennessee,” said Brennan. “We expect the inspired design and quality craftsmanship built into every new Infiniti model that rolls off the Smyrna production lines will deliver inspired performance that is second to none.”

Along with the assembly of the new Infiniti JX, the 265-horspower 3.5-liter DOHC V6 engines are assembled in nearby Decherd, Tennessee. The 2013 JX delivers best-in-class fuel economy ratings of 21 mpg and 20 mpg combined for the front-wheel drive and intuitive all-wheel drive models respectively.

The new Infiniti JX starts at a Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of $40,450 USD for the JX35 FWD and $41,550 USD for the JX35 AWD model. Reservations are being taken now at InfinitiUSA.com/all-new-JX.

“The luxury crossover market is the fastest growing luxury segment in America, representing a huge opportunity for Infiniti,” said Poore. “In fact, we expect JX to quickly become our second highest volume model, right behind the popular Infiniti G-line.”

The new JX also features the world’s first Backup Collision Intervention system – another first-to-market technology from Infiniti. Backup Collision Intervention uses sensors in the rear of the JX to detect potential obstacles when backing out of a parking space. If an obstacle is detected, the system gives visual and audible warnings. And, in case the driver doesn’t respond in time, BCI can step in and automatically apply the brakes to help avoid a potential impact.

In addition to the JX’s standout styling and craftsmanship, the breakthrough JX design offers excellent legroom in all three rows and ample cargo room behind the 3rd row. In addition, an innovative multi-mode middle seat design provides entry to the 3rd row without removing a 2nd row child seat.

Among the many other advanced standard and available technologies found throughout the new JX is Infiniti Connection™, a new feature that can automatically synch the owner’s schedule through Google Calendar™ and then provides navigation guidance to appointments – along with multiple other functions. The Infiniti Connection™ system also includes Infiniti Personal Assistant, which offers owners 24-hour personal concierge services from inside or outside of their Infiniti vehicle.

Infiniti JX Named To Parenting Magazine’s “Smartest Family Cars Of 2012” List

– All-New 7-Passenger Luxury Crossover Recognized for its Family-Friendly Features in Magazine’s First-Ever “Genius” Issue –
Parenting magazine has recognized the Infiniti JX as one of the year’s “Smartest Family Cars” in its February 2012 issue, on stands now. The list is featured in Parenting’s first-ever “Genius” issue, dedicated to helping parents unlock their child’s own unique genius potential. Equipped with the latest technology to help ease the load of managing the modern tribe, the Infiniti JX allows parents and kids to take advantage of some of the smartest automotive features on the market.

“By recognizing today’s smartest cars, Parenting hopes to make it easy for families to use technology on the road, whether it’s for a quick run to the store or for an extended road trip vacation,” said Ana Connery, Editorial Director for The Parenting Group. “Our editors’ top picks have thought of everything so that parents don’t have to.”

The Infiniti JX, which will be available at Infiniti retailers beginning this spring, was chosen for its many family-friendly features, such as its collision sensors that automatically engage the brake if another vehicle is detected when the JX is in reverse, as well as four external cameras that provide a 360-degree view of the surroundings. There is also the ability to synch appointments from Google Calendar into the navigation system.

“The Infiniti JX’s features were inspired by families who told us they wanted a luxury vehicle with features like the world’s first Backup Collision Intervention system, an Around View Monitor and not having to take out a child safety seat to get access to the 3rd row,” said Infiniti Americas Vice President Ben Poore. “We’re proud that Parenting magazine recognized our desire to make hectic family lives a little a more efficient and much more enjoyable.”

2012 Detroit auto show video: 2013 Infiniti JX

The Infiniti JX is aimed squarely at the suburban DIMK bracket—decent income, multiple kids—a segment that the brand has largely avoided for years.

These are the type of buyers who shop for luxury, three-row SUVs such as the Acura MDX, Audi Q7, Buick Enclave, and Lexus GX. Infiniti never really played in this segment, as the sporty FX is a (small) two-row SUV and the QX56 is sized to practically carry a division into battle. Admittedly, it can transport troops in style, in comfort, and with all their gear.
But when designing the JX, Infiniti seems to ignored the pedigree of the rest of their corporate SUVs. And let me tell you, on paper that actually seems to be a good thing.

First, the JX isn’t a body-on-frame design. Instead, it is a car-based SUV that eschews rear-wheel drive. Front-wheel drive is standard, with all-wheel drive being optional. Not only does it show that Infiniti knows the buyers in this segment don’t want an FX-like driving experience, but it also allows Infiniti to carve out what appears to be a decently-roomy third-row seat.

Under the hood is a 3.5-liter, 265-hp V6 that is mated to a continuously variable transmission. In speaking with an Infiniti representative, it appears that they feel customers want smoothness first and foremost, and won’t care about the CVT’s lack of gear changes.

Some slick technical features are found in and out of the JX. Parents will appreciate the ability to set speed and distance notifications in the telematics system, which will send them messages if their teen violates the parameters when driving the JX. And those with little kids who need third-row access will appreciate the ability to tilt-and-slide the passenger-side second-row seat forward even with a (unoccupied, please!) child seat installed. (Check out the video for a demonstration.)

There’s an Infiniti mobile concierge service that, like OnStar, can cater to your needs. Unlike OnStar, this system is connected to the owner’s phone, not the car. So owners can use the service away from the car, as well as inside it. And the backup collision system will actually override the driver and stop the car if it believes a crash is likely to occur when reversing.

INFINITI AND RED BULL RACING BRING WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP WINNING PERORMANCE TO THE CITY STREETS

Tens of thousands of Formula One fans were treated to an unforgettable display of inspired performance on Saturday, as Infiniti and Red Bull Racing took to the streets with an exclusive live demonstration.

Taking place in Red Bull Racing’s home city of Milton Keynes in the UK, F1 drivers Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber wowed approximately 60,000 spectators by driving the World Championship-winning Red Bull Formula One cars along the city streets, condoned off especially for this historical event. Amongst the roar of engines and clouds of tyre smoke, Red Bull Racing Team Principal Christian Horner and Chief Technical Officer Adrian Newey were also there to meet and greet fans.

As a major partner of Red Bull Racing, Infiniti was central to the show, with both Mark Webber and Sebastian Vettel completing hero laps and waving to the crowd aboard two Infiniti G Convertibles. Each of the drivers arrived at the event in an Infiniti M35h, the world’s fastest-accelerating hybrid, whilst fans had the chance to get up close to Infiniti’s range of cars with a large product display next to the course. This display included a rare chance to see the Infiniti FX Sebastian Vettel Version concept, along with an Infiniti FX30ds specially branded in RB7 livery which was also used as the official pace car for the F1 runs.

The event marks the end of a strong first year for the Infiniti and Red Bull Racing partnership, resulting in both the Drivers’ and Constructors’ World Championships. It has also seen Sebastian Vettel sign as the luxury car maker’s Global Brand Ambassador and the subsequent development of the Infiniti FX Sebastian Vettel Version, unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September.

Commenting on the event, Wayne Bruce, Communications Director, Infiniti Europe said: “Today has been a truly fitting end to a remarkable first F1 season for Infiniti and we are delighted to have been able to support Red Bull Racing on the event.

It’s phenomenal to see so many fans of the sport attend the demonstration, and judging from the hero laps and our own car display, it appears Infiniti has come away with a lot of new fans of our own.”
